Amy Farnsworth is a Canadian making natural wine in New Zealand from the ground up. Having trained at Marcel Lapierre, she is meticulous about farming as much as she is about winemaking. In true vigneron style, she tends personally to many of the vines which she purchases the fruit off, including camping in the vineyards when she farms vines in a neighbouring wine region. This Pinot Gris is from the organic Osawa Vineyard on the Mangatahi Terraces of Maraekakaho. This subregion is cooler and further inland than the main vignobles of Hawke’s Bay. Amy starts by making a wild yeast starter fermented in the vineyard. The hand-picked fruit is then fermented with this starter and left on skins for 28 days with gentle hand-plunging daily to extract soft tannins. It is entirely unadjusted with no additions and no sulfur. This is a composition of phenolics, bright fruit, purity and texture.

Taste & Experience
This can take a bit of a chill without losing its complexity. Textural yet fruity, it will work with an array of savory flavors; from nutty to smoky/toasty and slow-cooked pork or poultry through to crispy root vegetables.
